The “Applied Chemistry & Biomolecules” (QAB) laboratory integrates computational tools (cheminformatics and bioinformatics), the production of biomolecules (proteins) through recombinant DNA technology, as well as both chemical synthesis and chemoenzymatic synthesis, in the search for new bioactive products. Through a multidisciplinary approach, this group aims to generate innovative solutions for biomedicine and the pharmaceutical industry.

Collaborating Companies: Chemoenzymatic synthesis of carbohydrate derivatives with therapeutic potential in gastrointestinal pathologies. This project is carried out in collaboration with the company Venter Pharma, S.L., and originates from research conducted in our group that led to the development of a new diagnostic test for lactose intolerance (LacTEST®).
Development of new PROTACs for the selective degradation of proteins involved in cancer. These compounds and their structural units are designed using computational tools, supported by organic synthesis for their subsequent development. This project is conducted in collaboration with Dr. Víctor Bolaños-García from Oxford Brookes University, UK, and the OTT company.
The use of agarosae as support to the inmmobilization of enzymes. Company ABT
