Bioinformatics unit at IC

For the analysis of massive amounts of NGS sequencing data, or data based on other omics technologies such as proteomics, metabolomics, or phenomics, the bioinformatics team from CI2A Bioinformatics Service works closely with the omics service to maintain a consistent workflow, and it also offers the service data analysis from data obtained outside the omics laboratory.

This service has computers connected to networked computing servers through the CSIC’s DRAGO platform, as well as commercial licenses from computing companies (Latchbio) or Loope and Browse from 10xgenomics, DRAGEN from Illumina, or IonTorrent from Thermofisher. This computing capacity enables the service to offer a complete data analysis service. A first level of analysis, to verify the quality of sequences or data; a secondary analysis, with statistical analysis between experimental conditions; a tertiary level, for the analysis of biological pathways or processes (Gene Ontology Analysis and Cellular Pathways); and a fourth level, where specific algorithms based on free software such as R, Python, or C available in the repositories and/or specifically designed, will seek to answer users’ specific questions.

The service will also keep a backup copy of the data and will arrange for the upload of the data in open repositories such as the ENA, NIH, if users request it.
