Biography: Dr. Javier De Las Rivas obtained his PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU, Bilbao, Spain) in 1990. Then, he joined Imperial College (London, UK) for his postdoctoral studies during 3 years. He went back to Spain to join the Faculties of Pharmacy (in Vitoria) and Faculty of Biology (in Bilbao) of the UPV/EHU as an Associate Professor / Lecturer (from 1993 to 1998), teaching Biochemistry, Molecular Biology and Regulation of Metabolism. Later he expanded his expertise on "Bioinformatics and Computaional Biology" during stays as Visiting Professor at the EMBL (Heidelberg, Germany) in 1998, the Mount Sinai School of Medicine (New York, USA) in 2000-2001, and more recently at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI) (Boston, USA) (several stays between 2009 - 2017). In 2025, he was awarded a FULBRIGHT Senior Scholar Grant for a 6-month research stay in the USA, again at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI) and Harvard Medical School (HMS) (Boston, USA). Dr. De Las Rivas’ competence to carry out successful research in the fields of human genomics, proteins and bioinformatics is proven in his active participation in 50 funded official Research Projects along his career and the publication of more than 200 research articles in scientific JCR journals. Finally, at this time his scientific work and publications have an "h-index"=62 and "i10-index"=162 (as provided by Google Scholar, https://scholar.google.com/citations?user=VY2k-EQAAAAJ&hl).
