Miguel Ángel Jiménez Clavero is Research Professor and principal investigator in the Emerging and Transboundary Diseases Group of the Animal Health Research Centre (CISA), part of the INIA-CSIC. He is also currently Head of the Department of Infectious Diseases and Global Health at that Centre. A biologist by training, he obtained his PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology in 1994 and has since developed his research career in the field of virology. His speciality is animal virology, focusing on emerging diseases caused by zoonotic viruses such as West Nile fever, Crimean-Congo haemorrhagic fever or zoonotic avian influenza, among others, always from a One Health perspective. He has published more than 170 scientific articles in his speciality, receiving more than 6000 citations in the scientific literature. He has given numerous courses, lectures and communications at international conferences in more than 30 countries in Europe, Africa, Asia and America. He is also active in science communication, an activity for which he has received several awards: first madri+d Science Communication Award in 2013 and Accésit in the Science Communication category of the 10th madri+d Awards in 2015. |
